My New Fitness Goal!

Top: Target // Leggings: Lululemon (on sale!)

HAPPY SUNDAY!

I'm writing today to share with you my new fitness goal! Ready...

RUNNING!

If you know me, I am NOT a runner. If I make it to half a mile without stopping, I feel like I've done 3 miles.

I'm telling you, this is going to be a challenge. My friend, Vanessa, is the one who will be training with me (yes, she talked me into it! Haha!). We plan to do a half marathon! So far, I've succeed to run 1-2 miles without stopping, but it hasn't been easy!

Okay, so here's where I'm going to need your help!

1. What half marathon should we do? We both live in the Houston area, but we don't mind venturing out!
2. What running shoes do you suggest?

Below, I've attached a variety of shoes that have sparked my interest, but I honestly don't even know which ones are good for long distance running. I'm hoping to get some help!

Well, that's all for now! I will be keeping you posted with this new fitness journey! I'm nervous, but I love working towards goals! Have a great day!

  1. I recommend the Aramco Half that takes place early spring here in Houston. I've done it twice and its a good starting point (not many hills). As for shoes, I have high arches and was looking for good support. I prefer Asics now because I can put miles on the shoes and they don't wear down. Happy training!

  2. You can do it! For me the first 3 miles are the worst and then after that my body starts to settle down and get into a more comfortable rhythm.

    Brooks running shoes.

I've done The Woodlands half and the BCS half marathon. Both were nice, but I preferred the BCS half you were able to run through campus and they had better post run snacks. (Priorities haha!) Enjoy it!

  3. Definitely do the BCS Half! I’ve done it 3 times and it is my absolute favorite!! I’d also suggest going to a Luke’s Locker or a running shoe store and have them assess your stride and pick the best shoe for you. I love ASICS but everyone needs different types of shoes :)
