Be Different.

I'm the type of person where I let little things get to me. It's not as bad as it used to be, but lately the habit has been burning me up and it's a struggle I have.

Ever since I've become an NFL cheerleader, I've noticed rudeness, hostility, jealousy, and a whole lot more in between. And it's been making me feel that same way against others.

Here's where I want to speak the truth and state a myth I've read on many pictures and posts that I've actually been in:

1. "Don't these girls have anything going for them besides being dumb and fake?"

The last time I checked, all of my teammates are either in college, have a college degree, going for their masters, have jobs such as being engineers, educators, and highly qualified professionals.

Me being one of those educators, don't judge us by our looks. I have a degree from Texas A&M University (whoop!). I might be teaching your child, and your child might look up to us NOT based on our looks. And your child might be impacted by me or your child might have the biggest impact on my life. I'm on this team to influence, help, and reach out to more children and people within the community and around the world.

As for fake, believe it or not, I'm on a team with the realist group of women I have ever met. We have laughs, we have fun, but we even have bad days and struggles.

So before you type something that might be hurtful to someone, think about it. Would you want it to be said about you when someone clearly doesn't even know you? I'm definitely guilty of it too, but this was definitely an eye opener for me.

This doesn't just go for my team, this goes for everyone out there including myself. We all are different. We look different, we have different personalities, we have different strengths and different weaknesses. But what we can all share is this.... We can be different. And we can make a difference.

So here's a challenge to you and to myself:

This verse is so powerful. We can be different. And we can do it together. Be who God wants you to be. Don't judge.
Live and love for Him.

And that's why I'm a cheerleader. I want Him to use me, and it starts now. I am accepting His challenge. Do you?

XOXO,
Callie
