How I Mess with Stress

Let's face it, we've all been stressed at some point… and it sucks

If you're anything like me, I over think stress. I think it's the end of the world. I get mad, grumpy, sluggish, lazy, and I eat everything in sight. As a teacher, I tend to get extra stressed during the school year: papers to grade, upcoming meetings, hoping the students will understand the material and enjoy it… the list goes on. Well, I want to share with you some ways to de-stress. Honestly, not only do these things take away my stress and boost my mood, these things also make me feel more confident and happy about myself.


There are MANY ways to decrease stress, but none of them mention sitting and reminding yourself of how stressed you are.

Here are some ways that I kick stress' booty:

-Pray. This is the first thing I do in the morning, throughout the day, and at night. God is the number one most uplifting thing I have in my life. He gets me through each day!
- Love. Okay, this is a big one. Love yourself, you will learn to be more positive and accepting. Love others, you make an impact on other's lives even if you don't think you do. 
-Be thankful. I always make sure to be thankful for what I have, for what the future holds, and what the past has taught me. I am also thankful for those that are in my life. Each and every one of them…including you.
-Smile. Sounds cheesy, but it's crazy what your smile can do. Not only is it beautiful on you, but your smile can make someone's day.
-Eating well. I do not want to beat myself up after I eat something crappy. I tend to do that a lot. For some reason, stress and food are best friends. I get stressed when I eat bad, and I eat when I get stressed. I've realized to eat right, not worry so much about how many times I eat during the day, and know that what I am consuming is helping my body! Food plays a big part in stress! 
-Workout or find something you love to do. I enjoy going on walks, lifting weights, and a new one…hot yoga! These are so stress relieving for me! Be active! Trust me, it definitely will kick stress' butt.
-Enjoying time with my family, friends, and even alone. It's important to equal out time and be able to talk with family, friends, and have time alone. Don't let stress take these things for granted!
- Sleep. I always make sure to get 8 hours of sleep. I'm not big on naps, but sleep is definitely something our bodies need!
- Have fun. This is a given. Life is too short to worry about things that won't matter later on in life.


I live by the quote, "Everything Happens for a Reason." This quote is so true! No matter what is happening, it's happening for a reason. If your day isn't go so well, just realize that something better is in store for you! This is something I constantly have to remind myself. You have a purpose! Don't let stress take it over. Be thankful for what you have. Pray. Smile. Love yourself and one another. Have fun! Only you can choose the way you live your life. Don't let little things take over what God has provided for you! :)
